Welcome

Welcome to the District section of our website. Here you will find pages, links, and other resources to the people and the services available across our district.

Gurdon Public Schools (LEA #100300) is a sprawling rural district that serves southern Clark County in southwest Arkansas. The district offers a place where students have an opportunity to achieve and to succeed. Gurdon Public Schools offer the resources and the rigor students need to focus on their educational goals. Teachers and administrators are committed to ongoing improvement through professional development, implementing best practices, and continuing education. The faculty and administration utilize EdReflect to document progress for TESS and LEADS.

The Gurdon Public School District serves kindergarten through twelfth grade. GPS also hosts an ABC Pre-K program. The school colors are purple and gold. The mascot is the Go-Devil, a type of logging equipment.

The community is a supportive one. Gurdon is a small town with some industry and local businesses. Support from the Horace C. Cabe Foundation, Georgia-Pacific, and community leaders affords students exposure to several educational resources—technology, Close-Up, athletics, fine arts programs, and FFA. District leaders collaborate with Dawson Education Cooperative and the Education Renewal Zone to implement the district’s mission effectively. The district partners with nearby institutions—Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas State University Three Rivers in Malvern—to offer quality educational opportunities to its students, its faculty, and its community.
